Fr. Philip Merdinger and Brs. Patrick Reily and Parker Jordan had the great joy of sharing a week with Saint Paul's Outreach. at the School of the New Evangelization (SNE). SNE is a ten day school for college students to be trained and equipped for evangelization on campus. What an impressive response these students made to the call to "Go forth and make disciples of all nations" (Mt. 28:19)!
For our annual Summer Conference, the Brotherhood had the privilege of having Bruce Yocum, founding member of the Servants of the Word. as our retreat master. The Brotherhood's friendship with the Servants was yet again renewed as we called to mind the faithfulness of the founding members of their community. We also celebrated the 25th anniversary of our own Brothers, Joseph Donovan and Ken Apuzzo!
For the 12th year in a row, Br. Ken Appuzo and Br. Patrick Reily brought 12 students from the Rutgers Catholic Student Association to serve and meet the people of Tanzania. Over the past decade of visiting and serving in Tanzania, God has done amazing things both in the hearts of those whom we have worked with and with the students we bring. This year was no exception! What a beautiful thing to watch how God has brought about a real friendship with a people who speak a different language, have a completely different culture and live over 8000 miles away. Asante Bwana! ("Thank you Lord" in Swahili). You can check the pictures out on Facebook.
Cardinal Seán came to celebrate mass at the Boston University Catholic Center and wrote about it in his blog. "As always, the BU Catholic community is very upbeat, energetic, and gives me great hope for the future of this archdiocese"
